LuZhanJunQi, alternatively known as LuZhanQi, Junqi, or Chinese Land Army Chess, is a Stratego-like battle game common to China. The board consists of various fields and camps that are seperated by highways and train tracks. Each player has two bases located at his end of the board the player's flag goes in one of these bases; a low ranking piece is usually placed in the other as a decoy. The object of the game is to capture your opponent's flag. Players place their pieces face down on the fields on their side of the board. A third player is required to act as a referee to determine the outcome of fights (which occur when a piece moves into a field with an opposing piece). Fights are resolved based on the rank of different pieces. Pieces that are ranked high such as the General or Lieutenant General defeat pieces of lesser rank such as Engineers (Gong Ping) and Sergeants. There are two special tiles - a mine which destroys anyone who attacks it (with the exception of a Engineer), the missile which can kill any unit and in the process destroys itself. Camps remain vacant at the start of the game and remain vacant until a piece occupies them. Pieces that remain within a bunker are protected from attack while those on fields are not.
